Child Care Scheduling and Support Services Coordinator

job summary:
Working to collaborate with the Child Care Lead team and under the general direction of the Child Care Managers and the Child Care Director, the Child Care Scheduling and Support Services Coordinator (CCSSSC) will be responsible for executing and delivering the ANHBC and Alex House Children’s Centre Vision and Mission for the organization. Managing staff coverage across high-quality child care services, particularly in response to staff absences due to illness, leave, or training. This role involves compliance with educator-to-child ratios, qualifications, and maintains continuity of care by coordinating, casual, part-time, or float educators as needed. Overseeing and mentoring a team of casual on-call educators for Alex House by taking the lead with interviewing, hiring and training.
Support oversight of daily operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, and maintaining a safe and nurturing environment for children and their families. The position provides flexible, as-needed coverage for permanent staff and may step into leadership, support, or direct service roles depending on emergent daily requirements. The CCSSSC will integrate a Reggio Emilia inspired approach to learning, as well as the First Peoples Principles of Learning, and the BC Early Learning Framework. Other responsibilities include developing and maintaining strong relationships and communication with children, families, community partners and colleagues, while implementing high standards of quality care and supervision that promote the safety and well-being of all children.
Responsibilities:
Operations
Execute and deliver the Alex House/ANHBC Strategic Framework including values and principles, along with program specific Alex House Children’s Centres Vision and Mission.
Actively learn and implement a Decolonized approach, ensuring an anti-racist/anti-oppressive, and inclusive approach.
Uphold regulatory compliance related to educator-to-child ratios and supervision requirements.
Liaise with community and facility partners while ensuring a collaborative manner.
Assist Lead team with analysing needs to determine training model and implementation of child care training/workshops for Alex House Children’s Centres
Ensure compliance with all relevant service and safety standards (including Work Safe and Child Care Facilities Licensing), record-keeping and reporting requirements, and contractual obligations with staff, contractors, volunteers, and students.
Leadership
Monitor daily staff attendance and respond to last-minute call-ins or absences for staffing support needs where required/directed.
Coordinate and roster appropriate relief or casual educators to maintain regulatory ratios and qualifications
Maintain and update team rosters, ensuring optimal coverage across all child care centres and programs
Communicate efficiently with educators, the lead team regarding changes in shifts or staffing arrangements
ADP payroll system oversight and implementation for casual on-call educator team
Support Child Care Lead team with operational coverage planning (e.g., during annual leave periods)
Take the lead to implement and coordinate an online scheduling application
Work collaboratively and in partnership with the public colleges and our lead team to coordinate and place practicum students at each of the child care centres.
Mentor, guide and support practicum students
Working alongside Child Care Managers and Child Care Coordinators to ensure all relief staff have required qualifications and checks (e.g. ECE license to practice, first aid, etc.) and support Human Resource Assistant with ensuring all required credentials are on file.
In collaboration with Child Care Managers, Child Care Coordinators, Program Supervisors and/or Program Leads help take lead in staff hiring, orientation, training and annual staff reviews for the casual-on call educators
Program Development
Plan, develop and deliver daily activities that support and promote the health and development of the children 0-12 years of age.
Provide leadership and mentorship to support the childcare programs within Alex House with the implementation of the Alex House Curriculum. with a focus on the Reggio Emilia approach and the First Peoples Principles of Learning and the BC Early Learning Framework, in collaboration with lead team.
Support and mentor staff to create a vibrant and emergent curriculum where the environment is the third teacher, the educator are co-learners supporting the children in activities of their interest and providing opportunities for creative expression through a variety of media-art, dramatic play, music, risky play, outdoor play, etc.
Ensure healthy communications are maintained both internally and externally
Maintains program participation records and analyzes the same.
Provides first aid attention when circumstances require such attention and only when his/her first aid certification is current

YOUTH SERVICES NAVIGATOR
Alex House is seeking a dynamic, creative, and collaborative Youth Services Navigator (YSN) to join our team. The YSN will support youth aged 13 and older, along with their families, in South Surrey/White Rock who are facing mental health challenges. Purpose:
The Navigator role is a unique position designed to enhance existing relationships between service providers while establishing effective methods for gathering statistics and reporting on the health, wellness, and needs of community youth. Collaborating closely with the Alex House Youth & Family team and under the general direction of the Manager, Youth Services Navigator (YSN) will be responsible for developing and implementing the integrated youth services project.
The YSN will provide a culturally sensitive approach to providing education, support, and guidance to youth and their families while connecting them to community resources, providing wrap-around support during the transition process.
The YSN will take a trauma informed, anti-oppressive, and strengths-based approach to bridging the gap between services for youth in South Surrey/White Rock. The YSN will engage with youth and their families to reduce barriers to accessing services and programs that contribute to a youth’s overall mental health challenges to develop individual wellness plans.
As a leadership role, in the context of the neighbourhood house work, the YSN will take a lead role engaging local community organizations to work collaboratively in order to streamline access for youth to services and supports. The YSN will, in consultation with, Y&F Manager and/or Y&F Program Director establish policies and procedures regarding participant involvement, program requirements and outcome measurements.
Program Management and Coordination
Ensure program objectives and outcomes are monitored and met.
Prepare program reports, gather statistics, and maintain relevant documentation and systems.
Communicate and promote program information both internally and externally, develop promotional materials as needed, and regularly update these materials, including through social media and websites.
Build and maintain effective relationships with all program stakeholders, including the Alex House Youth & Family team, Vine Youth Clinic, Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD) including Child and Youth Mental Health, the School District including Triage, and other community partners.
Develop and submit funding proposals for the programs and identify new funding opportunities, in consultation with the Youth & Family Manager and/or Youth & Family Program Director.
Community Development
Apply a decolonized perspective when working with the community, fostering a broader understanding of the impacts of colonization.
Collaborate with community partners to identify and address gaps in services for youth and their families, including mental health and substance use services, housing, food, education, employment, and other life skills services.
Advocate for youth in broader community meetings.
Deliver educational programs to the community to reduce barriers and stigma, and to build understanding.
Design and develop prevention and intervention programs in collaboration with other Alex House managers to meet community needs.
Represent Alex House on committees and advocacy groups related to program areas.
Actively engage the community in developing responsive programming and participate in decision-making about community needs.
Conduct social research as needed.
Job Details:
Organizational Responsibility: Reports to Manager, Youth & Family Team, and collaborates with Youth & Family Programs, as well as with other Alex House team members.
Supervisory Responsibility: This position may supervise volunteers and/or practicum students.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Client Services
Support youth and their families in understanding and accessing available community services, supports, and resources promptly.
Identify service gaps and collaborate with youth, families, your team, and community partners to creatively address these gaps.
Assist youth in accessing the Vine Youth Clinic.
Conduct community outreach to raise awareness of programs and services.
Gather statistics on the health, wellness, and needs of community youth.
Provide one-on-one support, case management, group work (with youth and/or families/caregivers), community outreach/networking, and brief counseling support.
Coordinate triage and support referred clients in accessing interim services.
Collaborate with youth to assess individual needs, identify strengths and barriers, and create plans to address their needs.
Offer culturally appropriate support to youth and their families in navigating mental health and substance use resources locally and within Metro Vancouver.
Oversee intake criteria and referral processes in consultation with the Youth & Family Manager, serving as the point of contact for youth and their families navigating complex systems.
Screen intakes, including referrals to crisis supports, when required.
Provide interim brief services and case management support, including coordinating case conferences with youth and their families.
Advocate for youth and their families as needed.
Key Qualifications
Experience working with youth and families facing mental health and substance use challenges, and providing group and one-on-one support for marginalized youth.
Deep understanding of Cultural Safety and Cultural Humility, and the ability to approach work through a decolonized lens.
MSW or MA in a related field such as social work, substance use counseling, or youth work (or equivalent combination of education and experience). Minimum of RN, BSW, or BA with demonstrated experience and training in delivering crisis services.
Experience in counseling youth and/or families with relevant training.
At least 2 years of experience in a leadership or coordination role.

DUTIES
1. Janitorial –
· Weekday cleaning of childcare and program spaces.
· Replenish paper/cleaning supplies in all buildings, as needed.
· As assigned – evening cleaning of childcare and program spaces.
· Site cleanliness incl. cleaning of outdoor garbage containers.
2. Maintenance –
· General maintenance over weekday incl. plugged toilets/sink, flooding, breakers etc. and/or call external service provider when unable to remedy. Non-urgent issues will be referred to Building Services Manager.
· Vacation coverage and some on-call for statutory holidays

Full Time – 35 hours, varying shifts available incl. weekday/early evening hours, and possibly weekends.

Permanent Full-Time (40 hours/week)
Alex House is looking for a caring, mindful, passionate, and collaborative individual for the role of Early Childhood Educator. Our team is collaborative and inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach to learning alongside the First Peoples Principles of Learning and the BC Early Learning Framework. At Alex House we look at coupling the principles from these approaches to learn through the delight in children, understand the value of play, their vision, knowledge, skills and have a strong commitment to families. Alex House, as a neighbourhood house, takes an assets-based approach to working in community, understanding the potential of each individual to contribute to the wellness of our shared community, regardless of what brings them through our doors for the very first time. Alex House is deeply committed to decolonizing our approach, looking at all of our work through a decolonizing lens.
Key Duties and REsponsibilities:
Our Early Childhood Educator will work to collaborate with a team of Early Childhood Educators to plan, develop and deliver daily activities, that support and promote the health and development of children 0-12 years of age, using the Reggio Emilia approach to learning alongside the BC Early Learning Framework. Other responsibilities include developing strong relationships and communication with children, families and colleagues, and implementing high standards of care and supervision that promote the well-being of all children. And other related duties as required.
Salary: $22.00 - $25.25 (plus $6 WE depending on qualifications); ANHBC Band C2-C3
Start Date: As soon as possible
Position will remain open until successful candidtae is found.
Qualifications Required:
Experience working in a licensed childcare setting an asset
Early Childhood Education Certificate and First Aid certificate
Understanding and/or willingness to learn the Reggio Emilia approach to learning the First Peoples Principles of Learning and the BC Early Learning Framework
Understand, support and implement Decolonization, Inclusion and Diversity strategic plans for Alex House
Experience and working knowledge of creating a care plan is an asset.
Strength in creating and maintaining a supportive and collaborative partnership with families
Creativity, flexibility, initiative, enthusiasm and sense of humor
Passion for on-going professional growth and development
Ability to work in a multicultural and inclusive environment
Strong planning, organizational, leadership and communication skills

Program Lead - School Age Educator

regular, part-time, 25-hour position plus 4hrs additional/week for administrative duties-full day shifts on pro-d day and school breaks-with potential of additional hours

Key duties and Responsibilities:
Working collaboratively and under the general direction of the Child Care Coordinator, the Child Care Managers and the Child Care Director, this position will take a collaborative role in leadership, mentoring/supervision and administration of the childcare programs. They will work collaboratively with a team of Early Childhood Educators, School Age Educators to plan, develop and deliver daily activities that support and promote the health and development of children 0-12 years of age, using the Reggio Emilia approach to learning alongside the First Peoples Principle of Learning and the BC Early Learning Framework. Other responsibilities include developing strong relationships and communication with children, families, community partners and colleagues, while implementing high standards of care and supervision that promote the safety and well-being of all children. This position is a “working on the floor” position and will oversee the site, including being the licensing person in charge.
Salary: -$21.31-$24.03 (plus $6 WE with ECE License to practice); ANHBC Band C3

Qualifications Required:
Experience working with children (0-12 years of age) including children who require additional support and their parents/guardians is an asset.
Minimum 2 years’ experience in a supervisory/lead role is an asset
Understanding of the BC Child Care Regulations and BC Community Care Facilities Licensing Act.
Valid Early Childhood Educator or Early Childhood Educator Assistant License – Infant Toddler/Special Needs certification an asset
Understanding and/or willingness to learn the Reggio Emilia approach to learning the First Peoples Principles of Learning and the BC Early Learning Framework
Understand, support and implement Decolonization, Inclusion and Diversity strategic plans for Alex House
Strength in building and maintaining supportive and collaborative partnerships with families
Experience and working knowledge of creating a care plan is an asset.
Ability to effectively mentor staff ,volunteers and practicum students
Creativity, flexibility, initiative, enthusiasm and sense of humor
Appropriate personal and professional boundaries
Proven sound judgement, ethical decision making, ability to stay calm under pressure
Ability to work in a multicultural and inclusive environment
Passion for ongoing professional development and growth
Class 5 is mandatory and Class 4 driver’s license, or willing to obtain with in 4 months.
Use of personal vehicle, including some client transportation (AH mileage paid), business use insurance required.
