School Age Educator
Permanent Part-Time (25 hours/week with potential of additional hours)

Purpose and Responsibilities:
Our School Age Educator will work collaboratively with a team of School Age and/or Early Childhood Educators to plan, develop and deliver daily activities, that support and promote the health and development of children 4.5-12 years of age, using the Reggio Emilia approach to learning alongside the BC Early Learning Framework. Other responsibilities include developing strong relationships and communication with children, families and colleagues, and implementing high standards of care and supervision that promote the well-being of all children. School Age Programs are provided at a variety of locations such as childcare facilities, schools and community centres, generally before and after school hours (7:30-9am and 2:00 – 5:30 PM) but extended programming will be required for any school closure days. Additional hours maybe available in child care programs. And other related duties as required.
Salary: $18.72-$22.88 (depending on qualifications the hiring range is ANH Band C1-Band C2)

Qualifications Required:
At least 19 years of age
Early Childhood Education Certificate and Responsible Adult Certificate an asset.
Or a successful completion of one or more courses, of at least 20 hours duration in child development, guidance, health and safety or nutrition
First Aid certificate
Experience working with children (5 – 12 years of age) including those with special needs and their parents/guardians
Understanding and/or willingness to learn and implement the Reggio Emilia approach to learning
Strength in creating and maintaining a supportive and collaborative partnership with families
Creativity, flexibility, initiative, enthusiasm and sense of humor
Passion for on-going professional growth and development
Planning, organizational, and communication skills
Proven sound judgement, ethical decision making, ability to stay calm under pressure and appropriate personal and professional boundaries
