Neighbourhood Fun Nights

Our Annual Neighbourhood Fun Nights are back for summer 2026!

Neighbourhood Fun Nights are an opportunity for community to come together, participate together in some fun interactive activities on Wednesday evenings in July and August.

The dates for this summer are July 8th, July 15th, July 22nd, July 29th Aug 5th, 12th, and Aug 19th from 5-8pm. A light affordable delicious dinner will be available Adults $12 and Children ages 2-12 years $8.

(Registration required for dinner by Monday of the NFN week)

Summer 2025 Recap: Neighbourhood Fun at Alex House!

Last summer at Alex House was all about connection through Neighbourhood Fun Nights, we shared meals, music, games, and plenty of fun.

A Big Thank You to our amazing volunteers, Vinita and Maria, and the Alex House Board Members, who led activities like drumming circles and yoga. To Melanie for story time and Delight Fan Dance for incredible dance performances and to our generous donors: Sunflower Café, Cobs Bread, Starbucks Ocean Park, Seriously Good Catering, Crave Catering, your support kept our community well-fed and happy all summer long.

We are so grateful to everyone who came out and made this summer unforgettable.

Celebrating Community Lunch

The longest-running, regularly-offered community program at Alex House, Celebrating Community Lunch brings neighbours together for a low-cost meal (main, dessert, and coffee/tea), live entertainment, prizes, and more! The meals are cooked on site by our amazing cook and volunteer team. The atmosphere is friendly and laid back—a perfect opportunity for relaxed conversation and making new friends.

Celebrating Community Lunch is held in the fully-accessible Dining Hall of our Crescent Beach location, 2916 McBride Ave. The suggested cost is $12 ($10 for members of Alex House), with no one turned away for lack of funds.

Celebrating Community Lunch happens from 12pm - 1:30pm on the second Wednesday of the month from September through June. If you would like to attend, please register and pay online by clicking on the event page to the right or by calling 604-535-0015. The deadline to register is at 12pm on the Monday before the lunch.

Alex Fest

Alex Fest, typically held on the last Saturday in May, brings in people from around the Semiahmoo Peninsula and beyond to enjoy performances, demonstrations, vendors, food, kids’ activities and more at this family-friendly event.

Alex House seeks to partner with neighbours looking to share their skills, talent, and creative energy with their community. Our aspiration is for Alex Fest to be an authentically grassroots gathering for folks to make their own fun, teach and learn from one another, and return home refreshed and inspired!
