Child Care >

Registering for Alex House’s licensed child care programs.

Our programs are offered full-time (5  days a week) or part-time (2-4 days).

Part-time placements must commit to the same days each week and include a Monday or a Friday in their requested days. Unfortunately, we are not able to accommodate fluctuating schedules.

It is our intent to work together with families to ensure that your child has a secure and enriching environment at home and in the centre. Let’s work together to communicate your child’s needs, development and accomplishments so that we can raise happy and confident children.

We are honoured that our Kensington Prairie and Crescent Park sites have been chosen to be a part of the BC $10/day childcare program.

Learn more about BC’s $10/day childcare program.

For all non-$10/day sites, we participate in the Provincial Child Care Fee Reduction Initiative and accept the BC Affordable Child Care Benefit (ACCB).

To see if you qualify for the BC ACCB, please check the Affordable Child Care portal.

For additional information about our programs please see our Family Handbook.

If you would like to register, please sign up for our Interest List and read our Registration FAQ’s below.

How do I put my name on the waitlist?

We do not have a waitlist but you can still submit your information to our Interest List. If you would like to add your name, please see the Interest List application form.

How do I put my name on your waitlist for the $10/day child care program?

Currently, only our Kensington Prairie and Crescent Park sites are designated as BC $10/day child care sites. On the Interest List application, please specify the child care location that you prefer. There is no separate list for the $10/Day child care program.

How long is your Interest List?

Our Interest List is quite long. We recommend that families add their names to other waitlists/interest lists in their community so that child care can be accessed as soon as it’s available.

Is there a priority sequence for child care placement?

Families who are currently registered in one of our other programs have priority for movement between programs and locations, changing or adding to enrollment, and placement for siblings. Once these priority placements have been fulfilled, priority will be given to families who identify as Indigenous (First Nations, Metis or Inuit), children with exceptional needs, lone-parent families and newcomers to Canada (within the past year).

Registration FAQ

I am willing to accept any available days, even if it is only 1 day per week. Is that possible?

Our programs are offered on a full-time or part-time basis (2-4 days per week, with the same days each week, and enrollment must include either a Monday or Friday).

If I am flexible with my childcare needs, is that beneficial to acquiring a child care space?

It may be beneficial if you are willing to accept any child care location, be flexible to accept part-time care or change the days of the week you require.

Can I come in for a tour?

As a space becomes available, we will contact you. At that time, if you are still interested in accepting a child care space with us, you will have the opportunity to attend a tour of the child care location before you register.

What are your monthly fees?

Our fees are adjusted on an annual basis. If a suitable child care space becomes available, our current child care fee schedule will be made available to you.

What is the Affordable Child Care Benefit?

The Affordable Child Care Benefit is a provincial program that supports care providers with monthly payments to reduce a family’s cost of child care. Factors like income, family size, and type of care needed determine how much financial support a family may receive. If your annual family income is less than $111,000, you may qualify for this benefit. Click here to learn more. If you qualify for this benefit, please be sure to let us know so that we can adjust the parent portion of your fees as needed.
