Child Care programs for Surrey and White Rock, BC.

During the formative years of growth, it’s important to make sure that children have access to everything they need to foster a healthy upbringing. That’s why Alex House is proud to provide child care to children 0-5 years old with the support of professional and caring staff.

Our programs are offered full-time (5  days a week) or part-time (2-4 days).

Part-time placements must commit to the same days each week and include a Monday or a Friday in their requested days. Unfortunately, we are not able to accommodate fluctuating schedules.

To facilitate the unique needs of each age group, the child care that we provide for 0-5 years olds is offered through 3 different classes:

  • Infant and toddler (0-36 months)

    • Max of 12 children per class with 3 educators

  • Multi-age (0-60 months)

    • Max of 8 children with 1 educator

  • Group 3-5-year-old (30 months to Kindergarten entry)

    • Max 24 children with 3 educators

  • Group 3-5-year-old - Pre-Kindergarten - Short Day program

    • Available at Sunnyside and Henry Bose schools only

    • 9:00am - 2:00pm - school days only

    • Max 24 children with 3 educators

Child Care with Alex House.

Alex House works closely with families and staff to determine how and when children are transitioning between classrooms to ensure that they are given the chance to thrive in their learning environment.

A typical day in child care may include the following activities:

  • Self-directed play

  • Nutritious snacks and lunch

  • Nap time for those children who require them

  • Outdoor and risky play

  • Arts and craft activities

  • Walks through the neighbourhood

To register, submit your application through our online Interest list inquiry form.

Registration Information to Note:

  • Families who are currently registered with us will have priority for movement between classes and/or locations, changes of days, and enrolment of siblings

  • Priority for new registrations will be given to those families who identify as Indigenous (First Nations, Metis or Inuit), children with exceptional needs, lone-parent families, and newcomers to Canada (within the past year).

  • Major adjustments to our enrollment usually occur at the end of June and into the beginning of September; however, there are occasional spaces that become available during the year.

  • We register children in our programs based on full-time (5 days/week) or part-time (2-4 days/week). Children attending part-time must determine which days of the week they will attend on a regular basis. We are not able to accommodate changing schedules, but occasionally may be able to accommodate additional days of care if there is a known vacancy in the program.
