Alexandra Community Garden
You are here
A community garden is about community. It’s a place where gardeners come together to teach and learn from one another about sustainable, organic methods of horticulture. It is a venue for gardeners to advocate and support local sources of food and the expansion of shared garden space for everyone who wants it.
A group of committed community members joined forces at Alex House to create local solutions for sustainable food production. The result? A community garden! 45 volunteers put in more than 500 hours of volunteer time to make the garden a reality. Our committed group of gardeners have continued to keep the gardens productive and attractive and visitors regularly stroll through the beds, enjoying this welcome addition to Alexandra Park!
In 2015 another community garden space was added at the corner of 128th and 25th in Ocean Park. The land, adjacent to Kiwanis Park Place, will include an additional 40-50 plots.
