English Corner is on summer break and will resume in September.
Over the years, English Corner has assisted dozens of newcomer Canadians with their conversational skills, while learning about Canadian (and one another's) culture. It has now wound up another successful season with a tea party (photo below), and will resume in September.
Our thanks to Elaine Biagioni, Diana Wilkes, and Lynn McKay (who leads the book club). We want to wish Diana well as she steps aside next season, and we are in the process of identifying another volunteer to step in.
English Corner is a conversational group for newcomer Canadians. There is no cost, and no registration is necessary – just drop in to our Crescent Beach location at 2916 McBride Ave (accessible by transit (#351) There is also plenty of free, street-level parking. Our English Corner group meets Wednesday afternoons 1 to 2:30pm in the Media Room. It is a comfortable setting for informal discussions led by our three friendly and supportive leaders, Lynn, Diana and Elaine. Some lively and interesting discussions occur on many different topics. Everyone is welcome to listen, learn and participate in conversational English. A book club component, organized by Lynn, is optional and is proving to be very popular. We welcome all who would like to build their English proficiency in a pleasant and supportive environment. If you or someone you know is looking to improve English language skills, this is an invitation to check it out!
Participants in our conversational group for newcomer Canadians, English Corner, enjoy a book club discussion.
