Are you a newcomer Canadian who wants to improve their spoken English? Join us for English Corner, a conversational group for newcomer Canadians. There is no cost, and no registration is necessary – just drop in and check it out! English Corner happens at our Crescent Beach location, 2916 McBride Ave, which is accessible by transit (#351) and has plenty of free, street-level parking. Sessions are held Wednesdays, 1-2:30 pm in the Media Room.
Under the direction of our experienced volunteers, Diana Wilkes and Elaine Biagioni, participants learn about one another and about Canadian culture and society through informal discussion of family, hobbies, customs, recreation, food, and much more! The format for English Corner is intimate and relaxed. Participants practice conversational skills while developing cultural competency and learning about other cultures. There is also an EC Book Club, led by Lynn McKay, where participants read a book in English, and come together to discuss it. Please contact us at 604-535-0015 ext 236 for more information.
English Corner is taking a break in December, with sessions resuming on Wednesday, January 9. If you or someone you know is looking to improve English language skills, this is an invitation to check it out!
Much thanks to our volunteer activity leaders, Elaine Biagioni, Pam Mahoney, Lynn McKay, and Diana Wilkes!
Participants in our conversational group for newcomer Canadians, English Corner, celebrated the end of their fall term with a festive Christmas party, complete with delicious food, lively conversation and a book club discussion and game.
