44th Annual Alexandra Festival May 26

You are here

Coming up ...  the 44th annual Alexandra Festival on Saturday May 26 from 11am to 5pm. It promises to be a fun day, with our usual amazing line-up of entertainment, children’s activities, vendors, and food trucks. Admission is by cash donation.

As always, we’ll have top-line entertainment offered from two stages. This year we are showcasing local young talent, with several performers coming to us via our outstanding local high school music programs. Entertainment will also include square dancers, a ju-jitsu demo, and the ever-popular Norden the Magician. We are grateful to the Washington Avenue Grill and White Rock Blues Society, who will be sponsoring local marquee musicians.

In Alex Hall, we’ll be hosting demonstrations by local crafters, while over in the Dining Hall, we welcome back Urban Wildlife Safari. A new addition to the festival, we will host a beer and wine garden in the Longhouse.

We have one more new addition to Alex Fest which we’re particularly excited about. Artists for a Change will be presenting an installation of visual and literary arts focused on social justice, in the Media Room (upstairs from the Dining Hall); and performing arts on the Centennial Plaza Stage. The creative output is intended to inspire visitors to consider becoming advocates and activists for positive social change in our community. Artists for a Change is an initiative funded in part by the Vancouver Foundation.

The Alexandra Festival is an important community event and we can’t do it without YOUR help. Volunteering is a great way to meet neighbours, have fun, and serve your community! Come experience Alex Fest as a volunteer – there are many ways to assist.

While Alex House continually does its best to mount this historic festival, the success of this event relies heavily on the support of the community it serves ,which means WE NEED YOU!  Whether you choose to join us as a Site Sponsor – providing funds which will allow us to provide proper staging, parking and accommodations for our performers and festival-goers - or wish to support other elements of our Festival, we have many areas which require donations (cash and in-kind) sponsorship, and volunteers.
